Granny Smith Festival

Last year we had around 85,000 people flock to Eastwood to celebrate Ryde’s biggest festival, The Granny Smith Festival. When Maria Ann Smith accidentally created the green apple we know and love in 1885 we don’t think she ever imagined her apple would be celebrated locally so far into the future and in such a big way!

This year the big day is 15 October. Get ready for an amazing street parade, dozens of stalls, activities for kids of all ages, day long entertainment, something for everyone. And of course there will be fireworks at 8pm.

Eastwood Chamber is proud to be a part of the Granny Smith Festival. We work with the City of Ryde and other organising bodies to make sure this will be a day to remember, and every year it has become bigger and better.

This year there are four entertainment stages:

  • Oval Stage – featuring bands and musicians including our closing family concert - Motown, The Show.
  • Plaza Stage – a variety of entertainment from local performers
  • Trelawney Street Stage – music and dance from local schools and performance groups
  • Round-A-Bout Stage – entertainment especially for kids
Eastwood Chamber’s own Roseanne Gallo is running the SingingSTAR competition for kids, Andrew Hill will keep kids active with the SportsSTAR program, and there’ll be an animal farm, rides and lots more to keep your children talking about the day for weeks and months to come.
For teens that are too cool for all that, The Core is there with local bands, a gladiator competition, roller derby, mechanical bull and surfboard rides, freebies and lots more.
You’ll find the friendly Eastwood Chamber of Commerce team at our own stall on the day – come and say hi, and get to know your fellow Chamber members. If you’d like to help out on the stall for a while too you’ll be very welcome! Contact us if you’d like to help.
